CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
Come, let us adore Him!
You are warmly invited to join us for our Christmas Eve candlelight services on Tuesday, December 24.
We have two services:
-
4pm - This service is family friendly, with a shorter sermon, children's choir participation on two songs, and grades 4-5 will perform a dramatic sketch
-
7pm - This service will feature our orchestra
Children are welcome in both services! However, childcare is available both services for ages 0-5, if that is helpful for your family.
ADVENT
During the season of Advent (the four weeks before Christmas) we remember the first coming of Christ. However, we also anticipate Christ’s second advent: his second coming when all things will be made new. Thus, Advent is a season of waiting and is designed to cultivate our awareness of God’s actions—past, present, and future. The great proclamation “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14) assures us that God has entered human history through the incarnation of the Son. During Christmas we retell and reorient ourselves around the reality that God put on flesh and walked among us.
Advent Devotional
Pick up a copy of our Advent devotional for yourself, family, or small group. Copies are available at the Welcome Desk. You can also download a copy here:
Suggestions for using the Devotional:
-
Use each devotion during the week leading up to the designated Sunday. Try combining the weekly devotion with a family meal (e.g., after dinner on Monday evening)
-
Read the four Scriptures and the Devotion. Use a "family Bible" and pass it around so everyone who is able is involved in reading.
-
Engage the readings with the Questions for Reflection and Prayer of Response. Adapt as needed to the ages of any children present.
-
Place the corresponding prayer card where you will see it throughout the week (e.g., on the refrigerator)
Devotional WhatsApp Group
There is a six-week WhatsApp group that follows along with the Devotional. If you're interested in joining, email
Paxson Jeancake.
Advents Resources for Families with Children
Our Children's Ministry Team will have a printed Advent devotional available at the check-in desk. The devotional is from Words of Hope and includes activities and readings for the entire family. It's an easy and wonderful resource to use as a daily devotional through December with your kids.
